FLCT: A Fast, Efficient Method for Performing Local Correlation Tracking
G. H. Fisher, B. T. Welsch

TL;DR
This paper introduces FLCT, a computationally efficient Fourier-based method for local correlation tracking, and evaluates its accuracy using simple 2D flow patterns.
Contribution
The paper presents an updated, fast Fourier local correlation tracking (FLCT) method and assesses its performance on known flow patterns.
Findings
FLCT demonstrates high accuracy on simple 2D flow tests.
The method is computationally efficient and suitable for real-time applications.
Errors are characterized and minimized through the described techniques.
Abstract
We describe the computational techniques employed in the recently updated Fourier local correlation tracking (FLCT) method. The FLCT code is then evaluated using a series of simple, 2D, known flow patterns that test its accuracy and characterize its errors.
