Fragment formation in proton induced reactions within a BUU transport model
T. Gaitanos, H. Lenske, U. Mosel

TL;DR
This paper investigates fragment formation in proton-induced reactions at low relativistic energies using a hybrid covariant transport and statistical model, comparing results with experimental data to assess the model's applicability.
Contribution
It introduces and evaluates a hybrid BUU transport and statistical approach for modeling fragment formation in proton-induced reactions at low energies.
Findings
The hybrid model can reproduce experimental fragmentation data reasonably well.
Limitations of the model are identified at certain energy ranges and reaction conditions.
The study clarifies the applicability scope of combined dynamical and statistical models in nuclear reactions.
Abstract
The formation of fragments in proton-induced reactions at low relativistic energies within a combination of a covariant dynamical transport model and a statistical approach is investigated. In particular, we discuss in detail the applicability and limitations of such a hybrid model by comparing data on fragmentation at low relativistic -energies.
