The black hole dynamical horizon and generalized second law of thermodynamics
Song He, Hongbao Zhang

TL;DR
This paper proposes a covariant formulation of the generalized second law of thermodynamics for systems with black hole dynamical horizons and tests its validity during adiabatic collapse of thick light shells.
Contribution
It introduces a covariant approach to the generalized second law for dynamical horizons and verifies its applicability in specific collapse scenarios.
Findings
Law holds during adiabatic collapse of thick light shells
Covariant formulation is consistent with previous thermodynamic principles
Provides a framework for analyzing black hole horizon thermodynamics
Abstract
The generalized second law of thermodynamics for a system containing a black hole dynamical horizon is proposed in a covariant way. Its validity is also tested in case of adiabatically collapsing thick light shells.
