Charmed baryon strong decays in a chiral quark model
Xian-Hui Zhong, Qiang Zhao

TL;DR
This paper uses a chiral quark model to analyze charmed baryon decays, successfully classifying several newly observed states and proposing their internal quark configurations based on decay data.
Contribution
It extends a chiral quark model framework to classify and interpret the structure of newly observed charmed baryons, providing specific quantum number assignments.
Findings
Confirmed decay data for known charmed baryons
Classified $ ext{Lambda}_c(2880)$ and $ ext{Lambda}_c(2940)$ as D-wave states
Suggested $ ext{Lambda}_c(2765)$ as a P-wave $ ho$-mode excitation
Abstract
Charmed baryon strong decays are studied in a chiral quark model. The data for the decays of , , and , are accounted for successfully, which allows to fix the pseudoscalar-meson-quark couplings in an effective chiral Lagrangian. Extending this framework to analyze the strong decays of the newly observed charmed baryons, we classify that both and are -wave states in the N=2 shell; could be and could be . Our calculation also suggests that is very likely a -mode -wave excited state in the N=1 shell, and favors a configuration. The favors being a …
