Measuring and Monitoring Grid Resource Utilisation
Aleksandar Lazarevic, Lionel Sacks

TL;DR
This paper introduces a suite of measurement tools for monitoring per-process resource utilization and a customizable emulator to improve grid scheduler efficiency through detailed, adaptive resource monitoring.
Contribution
It presents novel measurement applications and an emulation tool for resource utilization models, enhancing grid scheduling accuracy.
Findings
Effective per-process resource monitoring achieved
Customizable emulation of resource utilization models implemented
Improved grid scheduling potential demonstrated
Abstract
Effective resource utilisation monitoring and highly granular yet adaptive measurements are prerequisites for a more efficient Grid scheduler. We present a suite of measurement applications able to monitor per-process resource utilisation, and a customisable tool for emulating observed utilisation models.
