TL;DR
Recent evidence of $D^0 - ar D^0$ oscillations at B factories offers a crucial opportunity to explore potential New Physics effects and ext{CP} violation in charm decays, which could reshape our understanding of flavor physics.
Contribution
The paper highlights the significance of charm oscillations as a new avenue for detecting New Physics and provides a detailed analysis of ext{CP} violation phenomenology in charm decays.
Findings
Evidence for $D^0 - ar D^0$ oscillations from B factories.
Charm oscillations could be fully explained by Standard Model or involve New Physics.
Charm decays present a unique platform for ext{CP} violation studies.
Abstract
The recently obtained strong evidence for oscillations from the factories provides an important benchmark in our search for New Physics in charm transitions. While the theoretical verdict on the observed values of and is ambiguous -- they could be fully generated by SM dynamics, yet could contain also a sizable contribution from New Physics -- such oscillations provide a new stage for \cp violation driven by New Physics. After emphasizing the unique role of charm among up-type quarks, I describe in some detail the \cp phenomenology for charm decays.
