Yoshifumi Hyakutake

TL;DR
This paper uses Noether's method and computer assistance to determine higher derivative corrections in M-theory, revealing that the $R^4$ terms match one-loop type IIA superstring results, advancing understanding of M-theory's quantum corrections.
Contribution
It uniquely determines the structure of $R^4$ terms in M-theory using local supersymmetry and computational methods, aligning with string theory results.
Findings
$R^4$ terms are uniquely determined.
Matching with one-loop type IIA superstring results.
Computer-aided cancellation of supersymmetry variations.
Abstract
We investigate higher derivative corrections in M-theory by applying Noether's method. Cancellation of variations, which contain linear terms in 4-form field strength, under local supersymmetry is executed with the aid of computer programming. Structure of terms is uniquely determined and exactly matches with one-loop effective terms in type IIA superstring theory.
