Ratio of charm to bottom R_AA as a test of pQCD vs. AdS/CFT energy loss
W. A. Horowitz

TL;DR
This paper proposes using the double ratio of charm to bottom nuclear modification factors as an experimental test to distinguish between pQCD and AdS/CFT energy loss models in heavy-ion collisions.
Contribution
It introduces a new observable, the double ratio of charm to bottom R_AA, to differentiate between pQCD and AdS/CFT energy loss mechanisms.
Findings
The double ratio can effectively distinguish between pQCD and AdS/CFT models.
Predictions for charm and bottom R_AA are provided for LHC energies.
The observable simplifies experimental analysis of energy loss mechanisms.
Abstract
LHC predictions for the charm and bottom nuclear modification factors using pQCD and AdS/CFT drag energy loss models are given. We show that a new observable, the double ratio of charm to bottom nuclear modification factors, allows for easy experimental distinction between the two classes of energy loss models.
