A.V. Nefiodov, G. Plunien

TL;DR
This paper analyzes excitation and photoionization of multicharged ions involving $ns$ electrons, providing analytical evaluations of screening corrections and universal scalings for cross sections across different quantum numbers.
Contribution
It introduces analytical methods for calculating screening corrections and explores universal scaling laws for excitation and ionization cross sections involving $ns$ electrons.
Findings
Screening corrections to energy levels and cross sections are derived analytically.
Universal scaling laws for cross sections are established for arbitrary $n$.
The approach enhances understanding of ion-electron interactions in high-energy impacts.
Abstract
We have considered the processes of excitation and ionization of light multicharged ions by impact of high-energy particles, which proceed with participation of the electrons. The screening corrections to the energy levels and photoionization cross sections are evaluated analytically within the framework of the non-relativistic perturbation theory with respect to the electron-electron interaction. The universal scalings for the excitation and ionization cross sections are studied for arbitrary principal quantum numbers .
