The Broad Line Region of Quasars
P. Marziani, J. W. Sulentic, D. Dultzin

TL;DR
This paper reviews recent observational advances in understanding the spectral properties, structure, and dynamics of the Broad Line Region in quasars and active galactic nuclei, based on optical and UV data.
Contribution
It synthesizes recent observational results and constraints on the physical parameters of the Broad Line Region in quasars.
Findings
Improved understanding of AGN spectral properties.
Constraints on physical parameters of the BLR.
Enhanced knowledge of BLR structure and dynamics.
Abstract
The last decade saw long-awaited improvements in our understanding of active galactic nuclei (AGN) spectral properties. This contribution reviews some important observational results obtained from optical and UV data as well as constraints on physical parameters that control the structure and dynamics of the Broad Line Region.
