TL;DR
This study investigates how high-energy lithium-ion irradiation affects the electrical characteristics of space-grade silicon and GaAs solar cells through detailed I-V analysis under various conditions.
Contribution
It provides new insights into the damage mechanisms of lithium-ion irradiation on different solar cell materials using dark and illuminated I-V measurements.
Findings
Lithium-ion irradiation causes distinct changes in I-V characteristics of Si and GaAs cells.
Differences in irradiation effects are observed between the two cell types.
The study enhances understanding of radiation effects on solar cell performance in space environments.
Abstract
Space-grade Si and GaAs solar cells were irradiated with 15 and 40 MeV lithium ions. Dark-IV analysis (with and without illumination) reveals differences in the effects of such irradiation on the different cell types
