K.S. Babu, Thomas W. Kephart, Heinrich P\"as

TL;DR
This paper explores orbifold compactifications of type IIB superstring theory on AdS_5 x S^5/Z_8, constructing non-supersymmetric models with three or four families based on quartification, aiming to connect string theory with standard model features.
Contribution
It introduces specific Z_8 orbifold models that produce non-SUSY three and four family theories with leptonic color sectors, advancing string phenomenology.
Findings
Constructed two distinct quartification models from Z_8 orbifolds.
Demonstrated reduction to the standard model with leptonic color.
Provided frameworks for non-SUSY string-derived particle models.
Abstract
We study orbifold compactifications of the type IIB superstring on AdS_5 x S^5/Gamma, where Gamma is the abelian group Z_8, which can lead to non-SUSY three and four family models based on quartification. In particular, we focus on two models, one fully quartified model and one a model with two trinification families and one quartification family, which reduces to the standard model with a minimal leptonic color sector.
