On the magnetic fields generated by experimental dynamos
F. Petrelis, N. Mordant, S. Fauve

TL;DR
This paper reviews experimental dynamo results, focusing on turbulence effects on magnetic field generation, and discusses open questions and future experimental directions in dynamo research.
Contribution
It provides a comprehensive review of three successful fluid dynamo experiments and proposes new experiments to address unresolved questions.
Findings
Turbulence influences the dynamo threshold and saturation.
Experimental results have advanced understanding of magnetic field generation.
Open questions remain about turbulence effects and dynamo mechanisms.
Abstract
We review the results obtained by three successful fluid dynamo experiments and discuss what has been learnt from them about the effect of turbulence on the dynamo threshold and saturation. We then discuss several questions that are still open and propose experiments that could be performed to answer some of them.
