Meson masses at large N_c
Gunnar Bali, Francis Bursa

TL;DR
This paper investigates the meson spectrum in SU(N_c) lattice gauge theories, measuring pseudoscalar and vector meson masses for various N_c values and extrapolating to the large-N_c limit, finding minimal finite-N_c corrections.
Contribution
It provides the first systematic lattice measurement of meson masses across multiple SU(N_c) groups and demonstrates small finite-N_c effects in the spectrum.
Findings
Finite-N_c corrections are small across all quark masses.
Meson masses smoothly extrapolate to the large-N_c limit.
Results support the validity of large-N_c approximations in meson spectroscopy.
Abstract
We analyze the meson spectrum in SU(N_c) lattice gauge theory. We use Wilson quarks to measure the pseudoscalar and vector masses in SU(2), SU(3), SU(4) and SU(6), and extrapolate to the large-N_c limit. We find that finite-N_c corrections are small at all values of the quark mass.
