Compositional Semantics Grounded in Commonsense Metaphysics
Walid S. Saba

TL;DR
This paper proposes a compositional semantics based on a strongly typed ontology rooted in commonsense metaphysics, simplifying the interpretation of natural language phenomena.
Contribution
It introduces a novel semantics grounded in a structured ontology that aligns with commonsense metaphysics, making natural language interpretation nearly trivial.
Findings
Semantic interpretation becomes nearly trivial with the proposed ontology
Strongly typed ontology reflects commonsense view of the world
Simplifies understanding of natural language phenomena
Abstract
We argue for a compositional semantics grounded in a strongly typed ontology that reflects our commonsense view of the world and the way we talk about it in ordinary language. Assuming the existence of such a structure, we show that the semantics of various natural language phenomena may become nearly trivial.
