TL;DR
This paper investigates the propagation of waves along an infinite domino chain, determining the limiting wave speed in a specific extreme case, inspired by a historical problem from SIAM Review.
Contribution
It provides a mathematical analysis of domino wave propagation, deriving the limiting speed in an extreme scenario, extending prior theoretical work.
Findings
Derived the limiting wave speed for domino chains in an extreme case
Extended theoretical understanding of domino wave dynamics
Connected historical problem to modern mathematical analysis
Abstract
Motivated by a proposal of Daykin (Problem 71-19*, SIAM Review 13 (1971) 569), we study the wave that propagates along an infinite chain of dominoes and find the limiting speed of the wave in an extreme case.
