Multiple hits in wire chambers and other particle detectors
Patrick Van Esch

TL;DR
This paper analyzes dead time losses in counting imaging detectors like MWPCs, focusing on detectors capable of resolving multiple simultaneous hits and improving impact recognition through additional wire sets.
Contribution
It introduces a detailed analysis of dead time effects in multi-hit capable wire chamber detectors, including an enhanced $X-Y$ detector with third wire set for impact recognition.
Findings
Quantifies dead time losses in multi-hit detectors.
Demonstrates improved impact recognition with additional wire sets.
Provides analytical framework for detector dead time correction.
Abstract
We propose an analysis of the dead time losses in counting imaging detectors such as MWPC which can resolve simultaneous hits, and analyze in more detail an detector which has a third wire set which allows for the recognition of simultaneous impacts.
