Several new actions of $p$-branes based on bulk scalar fields
Yi-Shi Duan, Zhen-Bin Cao

TL;DR
This paper introduces new actions for $p$-branes derived from bulk scalar fields, maintaining Lorentz invariance and self-duality, and connecting to known actions like Nambu-Goto.
Contribution
It presents novel $p$-brane actions constructed via topological tensor currents from bulk scalar fields, preserving symmetries and extending existing models.
Findings
New $p$-brane actions are constructed from bulk scalar fields.
The actions reduce to known models like Nambu-Goto.
The constructed actions preserve Lorentz invariance and satisfy self-duality.
Abstract
Generally, -branes play central roles in revealing the nonperturbative structures of the string/M-theory. In this paper, through a topological tensor current constructed in terms of a bulk scalar field, we first show some topological properties of -branes, and then mainly discuss the construction of several new actions of -branes. We show that the actions we construct which can be reduced to the Nambu-Goto action or some other simple actions, are all defined naturally in the bulk spacetime, preserving the full spacetime Lorentz invariance and satisfying a self-dual condition.
